PAD symtom

Application: The application of intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) to the lower limb to increase arterial inflow in those with Peripheral Artery Disease (as many as 8-12 million Americans)

SEVERE PAD CAN LEAD TO:

  • Foot pain that won’t go away with rest
  • Foot and toe wounds that won’t heal
  • Gangrene
  • Decreased temperature of lower leg or foot
  • Leg amputation

Treatment: Symptoms of PAD can be decreased and controlled by using a compression pump. Those who have used the pump have demonstrated the following:

  • Increased ability to walk distances
  • Less claudication
  • Improved resting and post exercise ABI
  • Improved Quality of Life

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Pneumatic compression is contraindicated for the patients with:

  • Infected Limbs
  • Suspected Deep Vein Thrombosis or arterial clots
  • Episodes of inflammatory phlebitis or pulmonary embolism
